I am a licensed clinical social worker certified to practice psychotherapy in the state of New Jersey.  I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Middle Tennessee State University (2001) and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Catholic University of America (2003).  I also maintain certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional issued by the IATP (International Association of Trauma Professionals).

Throughout the years, I have gained substantial experience working with school systems, hospitals and other agencies in the pursuit of the healthy emotional development of individuals and families. I also have extensive experience with adoptive families and children. I have training and experience providing emotionally focused therapy counseling to couples and families.  I believe this emerging therapy is a fantastic way to break down walls in relationships and resolve underlying hurt so that rebuilding can begin.  My work has also involved a great deal of experience with individuals suffering from anxiety related issues and depression due to life transitions such as job loss, divorce, or death of a loved one.

My therapy practice utilizes several theoretical models depending on the applicable circumstances (emotionally focused, cognitive behavioral, rational emotive, psychoeducational, systems theory, etc.) to provide comprehensive clinical services in order to ensure that every individual client gets their needs met.  My primary goal is always to meet the needs of my clients and help them learn the skills necessary to continue their own growth toward emotional well being.  I believe in using shared collaboration to identify patterns of unhealthy behavior as well as strengths within an individual, couple, or family and work with each client(s) to develop an individualized plan to resolve difficulties for lasting change and provide the necessary tools to effectively resolve future conflicts.

My desire to provide my clients with the most up to date and comprehensive treatment includes constant continuing education in the latest theories of treatment.  I have been a professional member of the National Association of Social Workers since 2000.  I am also a professional member of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America and the International Association of Trauma Professionals.

I am an expert relationship advisor for articles posted in Martha Stewart Weddings and you can find the blog I author on my discussions page.
